The Radiance of the Spirit (2023)

"...Tyriq Baker’s The Radiance of the Spirit, a lilting, lambent pean with a short, three-bar motif threaded throughout often rich textures. Though there were passing moments of urgency and furtiveness, the music’s overriding character was one of flowing lyricism and open expressivity. The players’ vivid and heartfelt response was acutely alert to this joyful and unabashedly tuneful score’s dynamic shading and mood shifts". (Paul Conway, Musical Opinion, April 2023)

The Radiance of the Spirit was composed for the CBSO's Sounds New Concert, on 29th January 2023, along with 19 other compositions each by 19 up and coming composers.

A Night's Dream (2024)

A Night's Dream is a three album music project based on Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and created in response to the 400th year anniversary of Shakespeare's Folio publication.

The result is an innovative re-telling of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, employing a colourful and surreal fusion of pop, rock, folk, jazz, rap, reggae, electronic and more, whilst staying true to the main plot line and themes.

This project has been birthed through collaboration with many other members of Young Rep: The Company, and musicians and singers in and around Birmingham and beyond, resulting in a blend of unique voices that the album would not be complete without.

Pit Stop and Wash (2025)

'Pit Stop and Wash is a romantic comedy musical written by book writer Gaby Songui, lyricist Kristal Malin, and composer Tyriq Baker. It is set in a small, run-down laundrette in the middle of rural Brazil, with one exceptional feature: a magical washing machine. Bruna, our protagonist, is desperate to use the washing machine to find the woman of her dreams. Will her impulsive journey to the remote laundrette have what she is looking for?

Rootswork (2021)

Rootswork is a audio film project directed, written and music composed by Tyriq Baker. It tells the story of two young black men trying to find their roots through a musical journey, a story of identity and purpose. It's a project that features many musical collaborations, and a wide range of music genres spanning hip-hop, gospel, classical and west-african folk influences, among others.
